The International Cultural and Educational Association (ICEA) in cooperation with the Supreme Court of Ukraine completed an educational program for Ukrainian judges and court employees
The International Cultural and Educational Association (ICEA) in cooperation with the Supreme Court of Ukraine completed an educational program for Ukrainian judges and court employees, which took place on September 21-29, 2024, in Washington, DC.
The program included meetings with the offices of:
- Robert M. Doe Jr., counsel for the Chief Justice and Kimberly A. McKenzie, Director of Personnel, Supreme Court of the United States,
- Chief Judge Elaine Kaplan and Senior Judge Bohdan Footi, US Court of Federal Claims,
- Judge Vanessa Ruiz, US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, former president of the International Association of Women Judges (IAWJ),
- Oleksandr Borysenko, adviser on legal issues, Embassy of Ukraine in the USA,
- Debbie Schrager, director of the Georgetown University Supreme Court Institute,
- Victoria Dorfman, partner of the international law firm Jones Day, in particular:
- Seminar: “Lawyers without borders”,
- Presentation: The work of lawyers in hot corners of the world,
- Seminar: Practical examples of application of international law.
The program also included tours of the US Capitol and the US Library of Congress.
Feedback from American participants in the program reflected the benefits of building trust and respect through sharing perspectives on legal practice.
